There are two species of rhino that can be seen on African safaris, the black rhino and the white rhino.
The black rhino is characterized by a hook looking lipps that is used to browse vegetation from shrubs, while the white rhino is a square-lipped rhino with a squared off mouth made to graze the grasses.
In India you can find the Indian rhino, that is famous for its single horn and a shield-like thick skin.
All rhino species are extremely rare and continue to be vulnerable to poaching because of the high demand for their horns.
Sadly, rhinos are absent in most of the safari destinations, thus encountering this amazing animal is very rare.
If rhinos are on your wish list, make sure to point it out to us while we plan your itinerary.
You can see rhinos in the Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania, in Ol Pejeta, Solio and Lake Nakuru parks in Kenya, in South Africa and in Kaziranga National Park in Norh Eastern India.
